It Really Is a God Thing
By Daniel Borchers
August 18, 2010

Seven months ago, I penned a positive piece commending controversialist Ann Coulter (“It’s a God Thing”) and extolling the God who can redeem and transform any human being. Today, I must address a complementary aspect of God’s sovereignty in light of Coulter’s conduct, one found in the first chapter of Romans.

But before we get to that, consider these circumstances: Coulter is the keynote speaker of a pro-gay organization and is also scheduled to speak at a Culture Campaign event just two weeks later. Culture Campaign’s mission statement is “To engage Christians in actively living out and declaring biblical truth in a secular, humanistic American culture.”

To his credit, Joseph Farah removed Coulter from the roster of notables speaking at his Taking America Back Conference in September. Farah explained: "Ultimately, as a matter of principle, it would not make sense for us to have Ann speak to a conference about 'taking America back' when she clearly does not recognize that the ideals to be espoused there simply do not include the radical and very 'unconservative' agenda represented by GOProud."

Coulter’s latest abandonment of conservative principles and Christian morals is striking. Nevertheless, Coulter could not grasp the enormity of her error, nor did she see anything wrong with her behavior. She justified her participation in that pro-gay event – a participation which lends it greater legitimacy and potency – by saying, “They hired me to give a speech, so I'm giving a speech. I do it all the time.”

This is not the first time that Coulter has been morally blind to her words and actions and disregarded the things of God. Indeed, back in 2000, Coulter claimed to know better than God: “If God himself came down from heaven and told me these cops intentionally murdered Amadou Diallo knowing he was unarmed, I would not believe it.”

Since then – despite those rare instances when she correctly declares the gospel of Christ (as noted in “It’s a God Thing”) – Coulter has trampled upon the Word of God, twisting and perverting it to suit her needs, and jettisoning it when His truth and will become inconvenient.

For instance, in defending Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, Coulter transformed the gospel of living a transformed life into one of judging who will die. Mocking the evangelical acronym WWJD (What Would Jesus Do?), Coulter created her own acronym, WWJK (Who Would Jesus Kill?), missing the whole point of the movie and the theology she was defending.

Coulter herself has turned Christian theology on its head by claiming that “being nice to people is an incidental tenet of Christianity.” She denies the Christian imperative given by Jesus Christ Himself in the Sermon on the Mount – the Golden Rule.

Coulter later oxymoronically described herself as “a mean Christian.” That meanness comes to light in Coulter’s propensity to engage in character assassination and her use of death threats and elimination rhetoric, even when discussing pro-life issues. Ironically, she frequently sacrifices her fierce anti-abortion views, even in supporting pro-abortion candidates.

Personal repentance seems to be another Christian concept which is foreign to Coulter, who boasts: “I have friends I went to summer camp with who say I haven’t changed in that respect. I’ve always talked this way, and I always will.” Ironically, Coulter only regrets being nice: “I’ve never said anything so outrageous that I regret it. Though I’ve regretted things that were too tame.”

Spiritual growth requires repentance. We cannot grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ without repentance. A Christian who isn’t growing has a dead faith.

Surprisingly, as early as 2002, Coulter claimed that liberals regard themselves as God, a theme which suffuses all of her post-9/11 books. Was (and is) Coulter projecting?

In 1998, fans began lauding Coulter as “the goddess of the conservative movement,” as if any movement which calls itself conservative could have a goddess. Now regarded as a conservative icon and superstar, has Coulter succumbed to her own press?

Since Coulter has exalted herself and her ideas above God and the things of God, has God removed from her the ability to discern right from wrong? Has He given her over to a debased mind – a principle expounded in Romans 1:28 – until she sinks so low that she recognizes her need to turn to God?

Those who continue to enable Coulter to be the worst she can be should be ashamed of themselves.  Instead, speak truth to power in love. I urge all Christians to join me in praying for God’s invention in Ann’s life, that the power of the risen Christ may provide redemption and healing.

By Daniel Borchers
    January 11, 2010

Have we witnessed a Christmas miracle, a defining moment, a definitional essay which marks the beginning of the new Ann Coulter? Lord, let it be! Or will future columns revert back to the unchristian characteristics to which we have become accustomed in Coulter polemics? Heaven forbid!

Published on January 6th, in her extraordinary essay, “If You Can Find a Better Deal, Take It!” Coulter cogently and succinctly encapsulated the central precepts of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In a relatively non-polemical fashion. Suggesting a new and improved Ann Coulter may be on the horizon. Which would be the handiwork of God. Let’s all give glory to God.

In her essay, Coulter observed that faith in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for our sins freed us to be forgiven. She concluded with these exquisite words, “With Christianity, your sins are forgiven, the slate is wiped clean and your eternal life is guaranteed through nothing you did yourself, even though you don't deserve it. It's the best deal in the universe.” Truth and humility in one paragraph!

Coulter also wrote that spiritual transformation is the natural consequence of being forgiven by God. All Christians, having been forgiven by God, should therefore live transformed lives in which they no longer dwell in sin. As Coulter put it, “Christianity is also the hardest religion in the world because, if you believe Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead, you have no choice but to give your life entirely over to Him. No more sexual promiscuity, no lying, no cheating, no stealing, no killing inconvenient old people or unborn babies – no doing what all the other kids do.”

Does Coulter believe what she writes? Will she practice what she preaches? Time will tell.

I first read Ann’s essay that Saturday, just one day after finishing Glenn Beck’s excellent book, The Christmas Sweater, a poignant personal tale of redemption and healing. In Beck’s book, a 13-year-old boy named Eddie was confronted with the selfishly evil person he had become, disbelieving that those he had grievously wounded could ever forgive him, fearful of facing those who knew the truth of what he had done. Eddie’s fears were unfounded. Those family and friends – whom Eddie had so deeply wounded – so deeply loved Eddie that they would forgive him anything. As does our God.

Eddie discovered forgiveness and redemption in God, and the joy of being forgiven by those whom he had harmed. Love won out. Indeed, Eddie’s repentance and receipt of forgiveness marked his passage into emotional maturity and spiritual wholeness. His life – and his behavior – was changed forever!

The Christmas Sweater tellingly expresses the remarkable truth – the good news –  that no human being is beyond the power of God to redeem. Christians live in the spiritual reality that God loves the unlovable, forgives the unforgiveable, redeems the irredeemable, and transforms sinners into saints.

Should Ann ever repent and seek forgiveness, I urge all Christians everywhere to embrace her. To all those who have personally experienced the wrath and wretchedness of Coulter, should she repent, forgive her. I for one will be among the first to welcome her with (rhetorically and spiritually) open arms.

We are all sinners, but our Father in heaven is eager to forgive all those who repent and seek forgiveness. The angels rejoice when even one sinner repents. Shouldn’t we?

Remember, Jesus died an agonizing death on the cross, surrounded by a mob of people rejoicing in His suffering. He was hated without cause. Indeed, all that He did in life was to help them (and us). Were some of the people in the crowd, those He had befriended, taught, healed, helped? Jesus, while in agony at their hands, loved them (and loved us) so much, that He cried out, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

His love, and His forgiveness, never ends! Nor should ours.

REGARDING ANN COULTER: Is CPAC Director Lisa De Pasquale Delusional? By Daniel Borchers

Or is she just so besotted with Ann Coulter that linear thinking and common decency elude her?

Just this year, CPAC claimed not to have invited Ann Coulter to speak, but CPAC LIED – it did.

Having refused to allow me to register for CPAC 2008, Lisa De Pasquale, CPAC Director, is now refusing to refund my registration fee – claiming I actually attended CPAC!

According to De Pasquale … Coulter wasn’t invited to speak … but Coulter spoke. I wasn’t allowed to attend … but I attended.

Is the American Conservative Union so hard up for money that it has to steal $125?

Is De Pasquale so petty and vindictive as to threaten me with physical expulsion from the conference, claim to have refunded my registration fee, then, after the conference, refuse to refund that fee claiming I attended? Did she forget that she threatened to have me removed from the conference if I attempted to attend?

De Pasquale’s vendetta against me began years ago, when I distributed a Coulter-critical press kit at CPAC 2002. Since then, De Pasquale has been Coulter’s attack dog, doing her mistress’s bidding.

In 2006, De Pasquale published a defamatory essay against me on Human Events Online. ANN COULTER'S PLAGIARISM It was quickly removed once its voluminous errors were brought to the attention of the Editor.

At CPAC 2007, De Pasquale conspired to have me illegally expelled from that year’s conference, ANN COULTER'S CRIMINAL INTENT resulting in a physical assault. CPAC Obstruction of Justice CPAC obstructed justice during the ensuing police investigation.

De Pasquale’s most recent episode proves just how delusional she is. But then, that only makes sense, as she has been Coulter’s puppet for years, defending Coulter’s most asinine words and deeds. De Pasquale’s website The Lotus Blog provides insight into her psyche. Seeking to be perceived as beautiful on the outside, Lazy Monday De Pasquale has proven herself ugly on the inside.

Here is my correspondence with CPAC this year:

Notes from Lydia Cornell

Who is Lisa De Pasquale? A Coulter Wannabe?
Excerpts from her interview with Ann Coulter:

De Pasquale: "Following our first interview, I received an e-mail claiming I was “just as vicious as Ann Coulter.” I want this on my resume, byline and maybe tattooed on my forehead. How does liberals' hysterical reaction to (your book) Godless invigorate you?

Coulter: You know you're doing something right when you've reduced hordes of liberals to blind, sputtering rage. When I publish a book that doesn't enrage the left, that's when I'll start worrying.

De Pasquale: What question do you wish interviewers would ask you?

Coulter: What's Al Franken really like?

De Pasquale: What's Al Franken really like?

Coulter: He's an arrogant, ill-mannered, mean-spirited, frog-like lying bitch. And those are his good points.

De Pasquale: Each year at events like Sean Hannity's Freedom Concert and my organization's Conservative Political Action Conference, you're treated like a rock star by thousands and thousands of people. How do your fans inspire you to continue writing?

Coulter: By treating me like a rock star at events like the Freedom Concerts, and by making my books No. 1 on the New York Times bestsellers' lists.

Miss De Pasquale is CPAC director at the American Conservative Union in Alexandria, Va. Write her at lisajanine1111(at)aol.com.

Ann Coulter – in Desperation – Plugs Her New Book
By Daniel Borchers

Ann Coulter exceeded expectations at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the nation’s largest annual gathering of conservatives. Coulter’s potty mouth once again scandalized the conference, upstaging presidential candidates and political leaders alike. Coulter’s rabid rhetoric took many by surprise as she said:

“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate ,John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so [gasps, laughter, applause] so I’m kind of at an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.” – Ann Coulter, CPAC, 3/2/07

Every year, Coulter’s vicious words overshadow the theme and tone of CPAC, but this time Coulter personally felt the heat for her venomous folly. At least 8 newspapers have dropped Coulter’s syndicated column, her website lost advertising revenue, and “At last count 43 conservative bloggers have written an open letter protesting the keynote speech.”

To prevent her career from totally bottoming out, the October release of Coulter’s sixth book was promptly announced. Will her efforts at damage control, sans apology, actually work? Cynicism suggests, yes.

King David poignantly asked, “Why do the wicked prosper?” The psalmist concluded that their present pleasures are fleeting and hat the wicked will have their eternal punishment.

Did I say “wicked?” Assuredly so.

Consider the willful evil originating in Ann Coulter’s heart and expressed in her words and behavior. Coulter’s words are carefully-crafted to inflict the greatest harm and achieve the deepest response. Jesus so perceptively said, “For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Out of Coulter’s mouth comes abusive language, character assassination and elimination rhetoric – yes, death threats!

Not content to sully a crème-de-la-crème conference comprised of genuine conservatives and grassroots activists, the very next day Coulter besmirched Christians and even Jesus Christ Himself by repeating her juvenile “joke” at a Reclaiming America for Christ Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

“I spoke at CPAC yesterday … and I said I was going to also have a few remarks about the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but apparently you have to go to rehab if you use the word ‘faggot.’” – Ann Coulter, RAC, 3/3/07

Coulter values clearly differ from those sponsoring this event. According to her own peculiar moral compass, using the F-word must be the best approach to “reclaim” America for Christ. Somehow, I can’t envision Jesus saying that word.

But Coulter even surpassed herself, practically advocating the assassination of abortionists:

“Those few abortionists were shot, or, depending on your point of view, had a procedure with a rifle performed on them. I’m not justifying it, but I do understand how it happened.” – Ann Coulter, RAC, 3/3/07 (See video/transcript at Raw Story)

These conference organizers were not amused. Their conference summary omitted any mention of Coulter and their series of conference tapes excludes her entire session, which was to be the capstone and climax of the conference. (See also a letter from Americans United for the Separation of Church and State.)

Two nights later, an unrepentant Coulter defied her detractors to destroy her career!

“I mean, this is the same thing we go through every six months. I say something, the same people become hysterical, and that's the end of it. … This is about my 17th allegedly career-ending moment. … That's what has happened every other time for about a decade now.” – Ann Coulter, Hannity & Colmes, 3/5/07

Consider this important question: Has Coulter ever apologized for anything? Most Christians understand that repentance is a crucial aspect of the Christian life, a core Christian behavior. Repentance is, in fact, the entryway into the Christian life. But other core Christian concepts, such as truth and love, are just as foreign to Coulter as repentance.

Ironically, at the behest of CPAC Director Lisa De Pasquale (one of Coulter’s publicists),CPAC Chief of Security Floyd Resnick (also Coulter’s personal bodyguard) spearheaded a group of people who forcibly expelled me from CPAC just hours before Coulter’s offensive remarks. Why? Because of my previous criticism of their beloved polemicist. (See “A Call for Character.”)

CPAC expelled the wrong conservative.

UPDATE: Met John Dean, author of "Conservatives without Conscience"

You can reach my Home page at: LYDIA CORNELL

Human Events recently published a hit piece assassinating the character of lifelong conservative Daniel Borchers in order to quell rising interest in Ann Coulter’s current plagiarism problems.

Here are links to a 5-part series of essays by CoulterWatch's Dan Borchers on his mind-bending adventures trying to expose the truth about HUMAN EVENTS, one of the "news" journals that supports and enables Ann Coulter's crimes. Borchers, of Citizens for Principled Conservatism, is a lifelong conservative and a Christian. He was the first to reveal Ann Coulter's hypocrisy and its damaging effect on the conservative movement — years ago. Stay tuned....

In Part V, Borchers addresses some of the smear tactics perfected by Ann Coulter and her cadre of supporters who are willing to make false accusations and threaten Coulter’s critics, INCLUDING LYDIA CORNELL.

[Daniel Borchers is the Editor of BrotherWatch and the President of Citizens for Principled Conservatism. He can be reached at PrincipledConservative@yahoo.com.]

From Bill at SailerFraud: "Ann Coulter is not only a notorious racist, fascist, hatemonger, and liar, but she is also notorious for plagiarizing the works of other authors and journalists and claiming it as her own so she can profit. One journalist and editor named Daniel Borchers has been tracking and exposing Ann Coulter's illegal plagiarist activities for years. Daniel Borchers is the editor of the websites Citizens for Principled Conservatism, BrotherWatch, and CoulterWatch. He was among the first journalists to expose Coulter's plagiarism of her earlier books in 1998, High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Knowing how power hungry right-wing extremist organizations are that promote Ann Coulter, the far right were very active to smear and slander Daniel Borchers with lies, fabrications, and hateful language. Mr. Borchers, who is conservative himself, contacted us directly to tell the truth about the hateful and fraudulent tactics the far right used to smear him. Below is part 1 of Mr. Borcher's article describing his treacherous experiences with the far right after exposing Ann Coulter's plagiarism. Part 2 will come next week. The article is printed with the permission and request of Daniel Borchers." - Steve Sailer

Ann Coulter & Co. Use Smear Tactics & Threats to Intimidate Foes
By Daniel Borchers

Ann Coulter and her friends and colleagues use threats and smear tactics to intimidate and silence critics of Coulter. They have privately defamed me for years. But the truth has a way of revealing itself.

The private attack upon my character began in earnest in February 2002, when I publicly rebuked Coulter at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Since then, Coulter and her colleagues have engaged in a vendetta against me. As I predicted at CPAC, I had become persona non grata among some conservative circles because I dared to speak the truth.

Most recently, Human Events Online published a defamatory essay against me. The bald-faced lies and fabricated falsehoods contained in that partisan polemic by Coulter confidante and colleague Lisa De Pasquale were stunning in their scope and elusive in expressing truth.

The sheer weight of duplicity subsequently exposed in De Pasquale’s hit piece forced Human Events to remove her slanderous essay, but the perpetrators have yet to either apologize or publicly retract their character assassination.

In rebuttal, I published a five-part series of essays dealing with that diabolical diatribe, refuting concrete examples of those lies and using email correspondence with the editors of Human Events to show the depths to which they will descend in order to protect their premiere polemicist from charges of plagiarism (and other just criticisms). My essays can be read at:

I Human Events Trashes Coulter Critic; Scrubs Story / Retraction By a Thousand Deletions – ANN COULTER'S PLAGIARISM part 1

II Human Events’ Coulter Cover-up Continues / Editor Outs Their “Porn Queen” – ANN COULTER'S PLAGIARISM part 2

III Human Events & ACU Trash Coulter Critics / Truth Flushed Down Memory Hole – ANN COULTER'S PLAGIARISM part 3

IV Human Events Bunkers Down; Ignores Truth / Fraudulent Essay Debunked – ANN COULTER'S PLAGIARISM part 4

V Another Phantom Ann Coulter Stalker! / Conservatives Perfect the Politics of Personal Destruction – ANN COULTER'S PLAGIARISM part 5

Coulter and her cronies have – for years – privately assassinated my character in order to diminish the effectiveness of my criticism of Coulter. Their foolish public attack against me – using lies, insinuations and unfounded allegations – demonstrates the depth of their desperation to suppress the truth about Ann Coulter, her warped worldview and her contentious commentary.

Failing to follow the conservative principles they themselves espouse, Coulter and De Pasquale willingly (even, eagerly) defame those few conservatives who are courageous enough to demand integrity from their own ranks.

(See “A Call for Character” COULTERWATCH

Citizens for Principled Conservative was formed to speak the truth, to champion principled conservatism and to reignite a spirit of integrity within the Conservative Movement. Sadly, too many (conservatives) are willing to tolerate too much (extremism) for too little (partisan supremacy). Too many, too much, too little.
